Dedicated to Building Strong Kids and Strong Character

Our sports programs develop more than skills - they develop character!

We offer a variety of programs for youth and adults, including recreation and league sports. Volunteer Coaches emphasize teamwork, cooperation and developing good values.

Volunteer Coaches

We rely 100% on Volunteer Coaches here at the Y to teach our youth athletes the fundamentals of the game! We would love to have you out on the court helping the participants in our programs and making a difference in your community. If you, or anyone you may know, are interested in coaching a basketball team here at the YMCA or would like to know more information, please let us know.

The YMCA invites you to join our team of Volunteer Coaches (training provided). Please e-mail your local sports director to apply today!

Everyone Plays, Everyone Wins!

Sports participation keeps children physically active and provides them with positive development opportunities. At the Y, we promote the development of each athlete so they can reach their highest potential through skill development, teamwork and sportsmanship.

Honoring the Y’s four core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility, our volunteer coaches focus on developing character as much as building athletes. That is why we do not conduct tryouts to select the best players, norm do we cut children from our programs.

Why Choose YMCA Sports?

  1. Everyone plays and everyone wins.
  2. We believe teamwork and cooperation are keys to success.
  3. We play fair and respect teammates, opponents, coaches, officials and ourselves.
  4. Striving to win is an essential part of all sports, but winning is only one of many goals at the Y.
  5. Smiling, laughing and good feelings are important.

Focusing on skill development, teamwork, sportsmanship and values is what sets Y Youth Sports apart from all other programs.

Did you know that basketball and volleyball were invented by early Y leaders?
